In February, my girlfriend from back in Canada is gonna be coming to China to visit me, by way of Hong Kong. We're thinkin of spending like 2 days there, and then hopping over to the "exciting" world that is China. I'm wondering if anyone can give me any advice on places to stay for those 2 days. We want to find something relatively cheap, but not REALLY cheap, you know. I've been looking online, but figured some first hand experiences could certainly help us find something pretty good. Thanks a lot. |

There are a few threads about cheap places to stay in HK. Just scroll down the Hong Kong main page - some go back a while. Wang Fat Hostel in Causeway Bay is good - you'll pay about 220-300 HK$ a night there. and its nice and central. They have a web page, so Google it. Good luck! |

If you fancy out of town, Silvermine Beach on Lantau Island is pleasant enough but a little more expensive at around 400 for a room including breakfast.
Internet rates aren't always the best and, bearing in mind the season, if you know anyone local who can enquire on your behalf so much the better. Still, it's a fairer world than the mainland, generally speaking. |
