in korea there are so many hagwan (private school, or eikawa in japan i think) jobs that i could be on a plane next week to korea to start teaching the next day.
so even though thats kinda good, the bad part is that many of the jobs suck. many hagwans are run terribly, with dictator directors who dont know anything and with crap resources. it often happens where a teacher will arrive and get paid a much lower salary or will work overtime and not get paid bla bla bla.
how does japan compare? |

Much better.
There are many eikaiwas here. Even though some are offering less than the usual salary (ie, less than 250,000 yen/month) recently, you will find that they are much more reputable. I don't know about Korea, but you have a union here that will help fight for your cause, and in Japan, your work visa follows you instead of staying with the employer.
You will find some bad eggs, too, but by far, the situation here is better. |
