I have heard that to get around the no-letter-of-release thing is to get a new passport. Mercifully, I am now in the Philippines and had my passport stolen. Now I have a new one. I started applying for some jobs but they still told me that I would need one even with a new passport.

I applied at Raytheon and BAE.

Any suggestions?

You have stuffed yourself by putting on your resume that you were in Saudi over the last couple of years.

Your resume should not have anything with Saudi over the last two years.

I can't see how you could apply for BA and Raythoen unless you have both a US and a UK passport as BA do not hire Americans and Raytheon don't hire Brits.

NOCs are a total mess, since most embassies appear to require one for a period of two years, even though that period figures nowhere in Saudi regulations or legislation.

The passport in the washing machine trick is for the embassy. The employer may still require one to cover his 'arse. Most don't , and even if you left voluntarily there is no way yout ex-employer can have any claim on you after a year.
