Hello. i'm hoping to find a job teaching english in BsAs starting in the new year. i'm taking TEFL right now (will be done in about a week), and i heard something about jobs in argentina that i wanted to run by some people that may have some first hand experience. i heard that people can often find work teaching english, however, they often have trouble getting a work visa and instead work off of their travel visa. they end up having to leave the country every 3 months to renew their travel visa, and then go back to continue working.
so my question is: is this acurate information, and if so, why is it difficult to get a work visa in argentina?
thanks alot. |

I dont know any ESL teachers with a work visa. It is an expensive and bureaucratic process (from what Ive heard) and often teachers are not at a place for a long time so it isnt worth it for the schools to get visas for them, especially when there are so many willing to work without it. In fact, Im guessing you dont really have a choice until youve been at a place for a while and establish a rapport with someone... |

Hi there, In general english teachers work without working VISAS, and as you say, the must leave the country every 3 months.
Are you planning to stay in Argentina for long? Are you interested in getting a job here at a company or something like that?.
To obtain the working VISA you have to follow some procedures at our DNM (INS), you have to check if you are elegible...you can apply as a student (2 yrs program at least) , as a "rentista" (someone who recieves money from abroad) and so on, there are many different legal ways to obtain it....it takes time, money....If you fit the category for which you are applying its easy to get a working visa, and if you dont its not.
