good day all,
I've just finished a TESL course, have a BA and am looking to be in taiwan for mid-march. I've found these boards a great help and have a question about oxford seminars- the folks who put on the tesl class I took.
They offwer what they call a "job placement program" which doesn't appear to be one of the dodgy "recruiter" companies I've heard about going by another name. In fact, It seems reputable- the only caveat being that the company seems a bit Korea-centric. What I'm wondering is whether anybody reading this has gotten work in taiwan through the Oxford seminars placement program and what sort of reputation does it have amongst y'all, the grizzled veterans of all things TESL??
Thanks in advance, aaron |

Why not find a job yourself. Oxford will simply find you something you could find on your own and collect a (huge) commission. Which you could even say you are paying since you can't negotiate.
Money is the reason they are "Korea-centric." |

I also took my tesl through Oxford Seminars and am currently teaching in Taiwan. In my personal opinion, the "job placement program" was not very helpful. Although the lady I corresponded with was very friendly and polite I found the positions she offered me were relvatively low paying with long hours. Not exactly my cup of tea.
It's probably best to find a job yourself. There are lots of job boards on the net. I came to Taiwan sans job. If you have a BA, tesl and a pulse you'll have no trouble finding work here |
