What exactly does the medical exams you must have prior to getting your work visa entail? What are they looking for or what do they test for?

They will do a chest x-ray to test for TB, a urine test for drugs (opiates and amphetamines). They take a blood sample, but I am not sure what this tests for. They also test your eyesight and ask you a few questions. I don't think they do a stool test anymore. |

Hi. The bloodtest will check for HIV and Hepatitus. In addition to the other drugs mentioned in the post above above, be aware that they also check for 't.h.c.' (marijuana). There may be other things they are checking for, but I can't remember. The Taiwanese are paranoid about drugs and communicable disease. If you have used drugs (even pot) recently-- or have a non-curable, infectious disease-- they won't hesitate to refuse to issue a resident visa for you. Hope that helps... |
