Season's greetings (Bah humbug ?),

A few of my students are planning on taking English courses during the uni's winter break at schools around Dalian. I thought the least I could do was fire this one past you lot just in case they are about to hand 2000 RMB over to some cowboy outfit.

So do any of you know anything about the following schools ? Maybe you have taught there yourself, or know someone who has studied there, whatever. I realise if FAOs read this, they could post telling me their school is the best, but hopefully there should be some kind of consensus.

Future English School - opposite the Hilton

Xin De English School - next to Dalian market

Around World Ya3Si1 - near Jia4 le4 Fu2

Thee's also a kid going to Tianjin who's going to decide on somewhere once he gets there - any tips here much appreciated too.

Thanks in advance.

The only winter camps I've heard of being organized so far in Tianjin are for little kids, (primary school aged). Then again, I'm way out in the sticks, and so the amount of ESL related activities I'm not aware of in this city would be enough to fill a small library, I'm sure.

As far as I know, good old EF in Tianjin has classes in the winterbreak.

Ben,

Can you tell me about the job outlook for FTs in Dalian? I have contemplated a move to the coast. Any insight?

tofuman,
i don't know much about the city-wide job situation as i'm teaching at a university. i'm happy with them, they're happy with me. as for the overall picture, i haven't really been here long enough (5 months) to really worm my way into the ESL expat scene. nor am i particularly trying to, lovely people though i'm sure they are. Smile you'd probably be better to start a new post as this one doesn't seem to be getting much traffic.
