Did you really think the earthquake and tsunami were natural phenomena? How nave. If youve lived in the Middle East for a while, you know that everything that goes wrong anywhere in the solar system is a U.S./Israeli plot. Heres the real story:

Definitely one of the favorite hobbies of Cairo expats was following the latest conspiracy theories in the press. The department secretary always keep us up to date by translating the articles for our amusement. It is rather like the National Enquirer in the US with its strangely creative 'journalism.'

But, there is one detail in the story that I had heard elsewhere. Was Diego Garcia warned beforehand? I suspect that they were. If so, why were other governments not informed. Even if in most of these countries, no warning system existed, it certainly makes the US authorities look bad for not even making an attempt.

I wonder if it is true that the Diego Garcia base was destroyed.

I think youre on to something, veiledsentiments. Its all starting to add up. Clearly, planning for this natural disaster began 30 years ago. Supposedly Diego Garcia was protected by the Chagos Trench, a 400-mile-long underwater canyon that ranges in depth from about 3,000 feet below the surface to 15,000 feet. How convenient that this gigantic underwater trench just happened to be situated in just the right place to protect a major U.S. military installation. Isnt it obvious that it took the U.S. 30 years to dig this trench? And if the U.S. didnt know the tsunami was coming, why did the U.S. Navy place key facilities at the northern end of the island to protect them from damage? And if Israel wasnt involved, why is it you havent heard anything about Jews having been killed by the Tsunami?

Its so incredible it has to be true!

----"why is it you havent heard anything about Jews having been killed by the Tsunami?"----

Actually there were quite a few. Israeli groups even went over to Thailand to identify them and bring them back so they wouldn't suffer the ultimate indignity of being buried in a mass grave with hundres of goyim.

Despite the small number dead the Israelis have contributed a fair amount of aid.

As for conspiracy theories you read them anywhere. It's just that with the American or European press you know which sources to ignore.

I am sure the proportion of people who believe that 9/11 was a plot hatched by Bush, the CIA and the Miossad, is actually greater in France or the US than in Saudi.

Yes, absolutely.. you know it never ceases to amaze me how just how utterly creative some of these conspiracy theorists can be when given free rein...

My favorite conspiracy theory is of course the one about a bearded fanatic on a dialysis machine who from a remote cave thousands of miles away managed to make a mockery of the US intelligence/security infrastructure and not only demolish the twin towers but strike at the heart of the US military HQ.

My other favorite conspiracy theory is the one about Saddam Hussein's WMD's which were capable of wiping off the entire human race.

And then there's the one about the link between Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein...

Sigh... Rolling Eyes There's some seriously warped minds out there!!!

Definitely a point there... that many of the 'conspiracy theories' are created by those in power to mislead the teeming masses to achieve their particular goals. Never underestimate the gullibility of the average citizen of ANY country. Shocked (the last US election being a perfect example)

But, I still think that the Middle Easterners - especially the Egyptians - are better at truly creative theories. Millennia of practice I suppose. Smile

Here's another tsake on this issue of Tsunamie vis a vis terrorism.

http://www.atsnn.com/story/109317.html

It could be a boon for the CIA to have all these terror cells swamped and looking for aid. Coincidence?

Obviously you are a weak reader... take a breath and try again and also try using what sense of humor you may have. This is all tongue in cheek.

The topic of this thread is silly conspiracy theories and the foolish people who believe them. If you attempt to turn it into a politcal thread it will just be deleted.

jeess... I don't think you are ready to move to the Middle East with your attitudes.

It's been a long time since anyone said I was worse than a Nazi. Sounds like something Truth Hurts might have accused me of.

May I suggest, Mikhai, that you look up sarcasm in the dictionary.

I read the posts, and although I think I have a pretty good sense of irony and sarcasm (one has to if one is Israeli), I wasn't sure that they were "tongue in cheek" as you say... Oy... I was afraid that people really thought that the Israelis/Jews were responsible for the disaster. Some Israelis were indeed killed, and Israel did send aid. There was also a huge televised event with many Israeli artists who collected donations from the Israeli people, and a lot of money was made and pledged for the tsunami cause. Children also went from door to door all over the country to collect money for the survivors of the tsunami.

The posters here are being sarcastic, but the links they are pointing too are probably quite serious.

Actually as an Israeli you ought to be relieved that people think you can organize all these things. In reality, the last few exploits of the Mossad suggest that they have hired Inspector Clouseau to run their training courses.

Oy gevalt, roni! Are you mishugana? Of course I was being sarcastic. I would especially expect people in your part of the world to be clever enough to see that. Its people in this part of the world and Stephen Joness part of the world who are all too willing to believe any sort of idiotic nonsense, especially regarding people in your part of the world. The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, proven to have been a complete hoax decades ago, are taken seriously here and where Stephen lives. I guess religion predisposes people to believing in nonsense, so the more religious you, the easier it is.

At least the people in this part of the world give your people credit for being clever, though. A lieutenant colonel in an unnamed country with two holy mosques once told me 9/11 had to have been a Mossad plot because if his people had done it they would have screwed it up.

I'm sorry if my sarcasm upset you--it can't be easy having to constantly deal with this sort of crap.
