|
|
In about a month, I'll be in Hong Kong (and you'll all be invited to my housewarming party)!
I have a question as I am making a mental checklist of stuff to bring. What should I bring in terms of clothes? I have friends there who complain about the cold (when it's 60F) but I was wondering if I need to bring heavy sweaters and stuff like that. I suppose it'd be a good idea if I plan on going home to the Northeast USA while there.
Also this is a super dumb question, but how hard would it be to find a decent winter coat there, as mine is on its last legs?
Thanks for your help!

For clothes now it seems very much to depend on your size. Most of the shops seem to moving to what the call "chinese sizes'', which seems to mean that at places like Timberland nothing will now fit if you wore a "large" before. There is a great selection of clothes..including winter clothes. For some reason it really does feel cold here at temperatures that would be considered mild in other places..I have heard many reasons for this..but you may well feel cold if you are here in one month. Last year February was horrible. |

Thanks...so I guess I'll bring some of my sweaters then. Happy to hear about the market for the winter jackets. My poor coat has had a good long life of about 5 years...
Maybe it has to do with all the tall buildings? In downtown Boston, the tall buildings and its location by the sea caused a bit of a wind tunnel effect. |

I would not worry unduly about the coat, HK is known for its shopping 'opportunities'. At the moment out where I live in the NT on the coast it is bitterly cold at night and in the mornings here, and will most likely be colder yet in a month from now. I use an electric blanket every night at the moment, and have been doing so since well before Xmas. Mind you, the sea looks nice in the mornings from my lounge, balcony or from my roof. |

The sea looks nice nice from not only your lounge and your balcony, but also from your roof? Wow. |
