I'm very attracted to the idea of coming to Taiwan, finding a 'per hour' sort of job that will get me an ARC and then building up part time work on the side, but just how easy is it?

I'll be coming from Korea with a couple of years experience and about $3000+ USD.

Any help is appreciated. Smile

The job market is a little strange this year. Could get better or worse. In fighting amongst various government ministries about who controls the lucrative ESL industry on Taiwan has led to some uncertainty.
There are the same number of students and teachers just schools are a little reluctant to hire foreign teachers.
Private tutoring should see a big boom because of this. Better for the foreign teachers as we can cut out the middle man and government regulation/ corruption.
Here is a bilingual tutoring agreement.

There are also numerous home schooling programs advertising in the local papers, offering foreign teachers an opportunity to teach students in their own homes.
Enroll in Chinese classes and you can go for years.
Good luck,
A.

Thanks Aristotle.
Sounds, potentially promissing.
Basically come on a student visa and go from there.
Cheers
