First of all, the MOE is no longer the authority in charge of foreign English teachers, it is now the CLA.
The school is responsible for checking your creditentials and then certifying that they have checked these. This is why good schools want to at least sight your original certificate, before copying it. The school would be held responsible if they were to employ you on fake or non-existent credentials.
Once your application makes it to the CLA they will first check that the insitution offering the certification is on their approved list of institutions. If it isn't then your application for a work permit to teach in Taiwan would be rejected.
Provided that your school is on their list of accredited institutions, and that there are no other anomalies, then your application would be approved. I suspect that they conduct spot checks from time to time, but there is no large scale checking of certification at governmental level.
On that note, it is a criminal offence in Taiwan for submitting fake or forged documents, and it is not unheard of for foreigners doing this being arrested in a very public fashion, handcuffed, fined, and deported. It is best to ensure that your documentation is in order. |
