Where? What kind of country are you looking for? What kind of money do you want to make-enough to get by or enough to save a bit? When do you want to start? What language do you want to speak in everyday life?
etc etc??????

There are British Schools (primary and secondary grades) in many Central and South American countries. The language of instruction, to my knowledge, is usually English. The fairs for British School are coming up very soon; they start next week, in fact! If you apply directly to these schools now, and if you're in the UK and can get to London, you might be able to finagle an interview outside the fairs.

Good luck!

You're not affiliated with the 'royal family' in any way - are you?

I'm in Ecuador, also know Peru a bit.
Teaching in British Schools around here is pretty hard to get- They, and most other secondary and primary level schools tend to hire well in advance, and in the British School, Quito, you have to have a B ed, or Bachellors in a National Curriculum subject and PGCE, I think.
But, in the world of TEFL, here at least, your nationality would make little difference. We have a few Brits on staff, and it seems most of the other schools do as well. My girlfriend, who is British, hasn't found it to be a serious handicap.

There are many institutions that teach British English as well as North American. I worked at a University in Peru, which paid very well, and I taught British English through the Cambridge text series. Ironically, the British classes were mainly taught by North Americans and Peruvians, while the TOEFL class was taught by a Brit.

Currently I am teaching at a school in Mexico which also has North Americans teaching with British text books. They are looking for a Brit to teach in the future. Are you interest? PM me if you are.

Flo

hello there, Very Happy
I live in Argentina and all I can tell you is that teaching English in private institutes is really possible, because non-native english speakers want to listen to native english speakers, and see if they can be understood. In Buenos Aires you might get a contract in one of those international enterprises, may be to train the managers in english or so. It happened here, though some years ago, with the managers at Wal Mart.
Good luck! Wink
