I will be teaching intermediate English at a High School in Jiangsu Province and they told me the classes i will be teaching use a textbook provided by the school but I can choose my own if I prefer. What are some good ESL/EFL textbooks that any of you have used when teaching intermediate students age 12 to 17? Which ones have you found that students in China enjoy the most? Who are some good authors of EFL textbooks in Chinese for intermediate students? What is good about the books content and activities? It would be great if you could provide some citation information for us to refer to.
Thanks,
AB

New Interchange series is a good start. Complete with tapes of conversations. It is so easy to develop a lesson plan as you can get the teacher editions with all the 'how to' info included!

Not sure about getting them interested (depends on their motivation). Just add games and cultural facts and other things to keep their interest.

yes I am in Changzhou, my husband is applying for jobs now for the Fall semester in September. He has recieved offers from Hohai University, Changzhou Senior High School, Huanghai Middle School, and Changzhou Ideal High School. One of the schools said he can choose his own textbook or use the school book provided. Are you in Changzhou also?
