Hello
I taught English in Japan for 2 years before returning to ny native England to do my MA in English language teaching.. I am considering going back to Japan or possibly china. could anyone tell me about the possibility of finding a Uni Job in China. Any information about pay and conditions and job availability would be greatly appreciated.
many thanks

There has been a numerous questions asking this. I would do a search of the forum which will outline alot of your answers.
The short answer is - it will vary widely! |

It's getting harder to get a university job in China all the Time. Too many newbies and backpakers flooding the market. They seem to be preferred for jobs over qualified peolpe like you.
If you have an MA in English Language Teaching I suggest you look to countries where those qualiications really matter and you will be paid well.
Try the Mideast.
Here you would just be another foreign monkey working for little respect and little pay. |

Dear Danny,
The official website for Chinese university jobs is www.chinajob.com, which is updated almost daily. If you use it, contact the schools yourself. Don't use the server as a liaison as they are very unreliable. Another place is Angelina's ESL Cafe (a government website that obviously has stolen Dave's online name). They're postings are not updated as often, though. Better yet, contact the English departments yourself via their webpage from the university website. |

Most uni or college jobs pay around 4000; some lucky ones get paid double that.
You will be teaching Speaking and Listening, perhaps Writing. Hardly any hard stuff, but a lot of hard troubles with admin and students. |

The University I have been teaching at for the last 3 years will be hiring for the Autumn semester. Pay is 4500rmb/mo and higher depending on qualifications. for more info you can email me direct at [email protected]. The school is in Jiangxi Province in a rural area outside of the capital Nanchang. |
