I plan to go to shanghai to teach english. I'm curious if anyone else out there is doing this or is planning to do this? If so, how much $US can you stand to save per month if you dont plan to spend much? thank you |

To the administration:
Don't you think this post would be better served in the China section instead of the General Discussion section? |

I'm currently here with my wife and 4 y.o. 100 rmb a day sees us through comfortably, and we don't exist on school food [how could anyone?] So,provided you've got accomm and utilities covered, you can figure it out from there. Shanghai isn't expensive unless you're renting- that's a myth both Chinese and foreigners believe. BUT there are lots of temptations. A couple of the guys at this school manage to blow a largish salary each month at downtown bars and restaurants, accumulating art works etc. |
