i'm trying to find how many international students are studying English in the following cities. any guesses or links would be great.
vancouver, can.
toronto, can.
san francisco, u.s.a.
sydney, aus.
london, u.k.

Hi Shiloj -
These might be difficult stats to find, though you could try contacting TESOL at:
http://www.tesol.org
A few years ago, I did manage to find the following:
a. United States: 6,600,000 ESL students (K-8 = 3,100,000 + 9-12 = 900,000 +
Higher ed = 1,300,000 + Adult ed = 1,300,000)
b. Asia: 30,000,000 EFL students (American English only)
c. Latin America: 11,000,000 EFL students (American English only)
d. Roughly 50% of students around the world enroll in American English
classes and 50% in British English. The trend in Asia and Latin America,
however, is toward American English.
These numbers were pieced together from various U.S. educational agencies, UNESCO, and British Council reports.
