Has anyone ever heard of the Bond Institute? They have been wooing me quite avidly, but haven't been able to find anything much about them online, other than the one site they refered me to. Am waiting to hear back from some current and past teachers of theirs, but wondering if anyone here knows anything.
Apparently, they are permitted to work in 5 provinces. They have offered me a pretty nice pkg, more than they originally intended! I love the fact that I have the Chinese bargaining down pretty pat now. The man that I have been talking to lives half the year in Vancouver, the other half in Zhongshan.
Being as I have worked in China before, in some hairy situations - I haven't found anything that would send up a red flag really in the employment agreement. But am a bit concerned that I can't find much out about them online and haven't heard of them before.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I still have a name card of one David Dairu Peng,
"Director of Shenzhen Office" of "BOND INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE",
which lists telephone and fax numbers in Toronto, Canada, and Shenzhen.
Of course, this guy may not have anything to do with YOUR Bond College.
But in the case that he does have a relationship, I would frankly consider the whole exercise as futile.
D. Dairu Peng is a congenital liar, or a professional sleaze bag.
I have rarely been done in by any Chinese boss, but he is one of the very few who actually succeeded at that!
(Not that he owes me any money - I could take care of that, but he made solemn promises, in the most grandiloquent fashion, never to honour them. He ran a training centre with club called "Maple Leaf English CLub".
Don't believe it is still in existence... |

this company is called the Bond Language Institute. I spoke to a John Zhang who is currently staying in Vancouver, before returning to zhongshan where they are apparently headquartered. Though it is likely that they could be related to the one you mentioned, roger.
thanks for the input. have a feeling that i will practice evasive manuevers on this one!
