|

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone knows of any (cheap) hostels in Hiroshima ?
Given that the school I was going to work for has cancelled my contract 1 week before I was going to leave , I have decided to go to Japan anyway and look for a school the "old fashion way".
Also, what cites would you suggest. I am looking for a medium size (500,000 to 2 million) city, that still has a "traditional feel" to it. I am very interested in History so I would like to be near some places of Historical significance. I have decided to start looking in Hiroshima and some of the out lying area, that's why I am hoping to find a place to stay.
Thanks all, and wish me luck (boy am I nervous...but excited) |

It's not right in Hiroshima but about 20 minutes out by train or perhaps 40 minutes by tram there is a youth hostel in Miyajima-guchi. I don't know the actual name of it but I'm sure I remember seeing a YHA sign out the front so that seems like they are a member of the youth hostel association or something like that and could probably be found by searching. It's only about 500 metres from Miyajima-guchi station so you'd have easy access to trains etc if you did stay there.
And it's right by the famous Miyajima island's shrine and "floating" tori anyway so worth a visit if you want to see historical stuff anyway. |

There is a hostel in the Ushita (Higashi-ku) area of Hiroshima, just a little north-east of the city center. The location is a bit inconvenient but I believe there is an Astram Line station near there that can take you downtown in 10 minutes or so.
Check out www.gethiroshima.com for some job postings and basically anything related to living in Hiroshima.
good luck |
