Hello all,
Is there such a thing as a China TEFL network? Is there someone who publishes a magazine specifically for teachers in China? I have seen some for Poland and Japan, but am wondering if we have the same.

Try this link. John Zhou in Hangzhou is the head man of China TEFL and is a good fellow. I've met him.

As for a TEFL Network, you're pretty much on it. Welcome aboard!

TEFL.com is a good site but seems a lot more focused on job hunting. I seem to find relatively little of interest on it. Maybe I just haven't explored enough.

Never seen a magazine for TEFL teachers here in China. Lots for students, such as the mind-bendingly boring "21st Century", which is produced by the China Daily and accurately reflects the full integrity and readability of that august publication.
Not sure such a magazine would fly here in China. It's really hard to read in a bar. Very Happy

Apart from CP-controlled media such as 21st Century, China Daily, SHanghai Star, Guangzhou Daily (one English issue a week) and Shenzhen Daily (I think three weekly issues), there arwe other magazines that cater to an international readership:
- That's Beijing;
- That's Shanghai;
- That's Guangzhou;
- That's National issue;
All these magazines are written by expats that have their independent agenda under a Chinese publisher. They publish monthly and have classifieds with a number of jobs too. You can visit them online too (www.thats...+city ...com).

There are two other publications:
- Guangzhou Today (an imitation of That's GUangzhou, published by
Guangzhou Daily; some classifieds);
- CityTalk (published by Ismay CO., Hong Kong; mainly a
commercial broadsheet with some tips on events).

All these publications have more or less useful recommendations on bars, restaurants, cultural events. Of course, they do not cater to teachers only!
