|
|
Just a general question to throw out for any and all.
A friend and are are enroute to the Puerto Vallarta region in a week and are looking for an accessible and affordable hostel to check out for a few days, just until we can get our bearings and decide on our teaching/travel plans from there.
I'm having trouble tracking down any hostels besides the Vallartasol hotel which looks like it's going to be about 190. pesos/person per night. It's not out of the realm of possiblity, but we were hoping to find a few more options, so we have a bit more choice.
If there's anyone within the forum that has a tad of info, I'd greatly appreciate your input.

In Puerto Vallarta there seemed to be cheaper hotels in the center of the city... the non-ocean veiw side, where all of the shopping was. You might want to go and see... and I would assume that the farther away from the water you go the cheaper it gets.
I didn't check this website... but it is usually a good resource for hostels. Check out www.hostelworld.com

When you arrive in PV you ought to go straight to old vallarta. From the bus station or the airport just take any bus that says centro (not tunel) and ask to get off south of rio cuale. There is one street Morelos (I think) that has all the cheap hotels. I paid 150 a night for one person. With two people it is even cheaper. Hope this helps you out. If I find the exact name of the street I will send it to you. But if all else fails check loney planet (they tell the name of the street) or ask people for a posada economica. You will find the prices get cheaper as you walk away from the beach. This street starts at the beach (on the north side of the small plaza where artesans are selling goods) and heads east toward the mountain.
well I know I am terrible with directions so I will leave it at that and hope you find something!
