I've got a bit more time to play with so I've decided to renew my visa in Rhodes. Has anybody ever been to Marmaris? If so, where's the best place to stay. Is it busy at this time of year? I'll also need a hotel when I get to Greece so I'd be grateful if anybody could recommend one. Most importantly, where's the duty free? Do they have one on the ferry? Cheers!! |

First make sure that the boats run at this time of the year. In the session there are boats and ferries all week, now I'm not sure. It's quiet cheap in Marmaris at the moment, spoke to a friend who was there during the ong break, he said you could get a room for around 25 Y.T.L per night.
Try the Aslan Family Motel. Cheap motel but very clean, even has a small pool and bar. Don't remember the phone number, but its two streets behind the port. Most of the cheap places are very close to the port. From what I remember( I was last in Rhodes in 2002.) there was small duty free in the Turkish port and nothing on the Greek side. |

Bodrum and Cos might be an alternative if the ferries aren't running so regularly as I think they are fairly frequent even in the spring.
I'm sure there was a thread about this recently on the mymerhaba site. |

Dont know when you are planning to go but the ferry to rhodes leaves from marmaris on a tues and thurs around 9am. There are lots of small cheap hotels in the centre so you shouldnt have any problem finding somewhere to stay.
Hope this helps |
