Has anyone had experience in looking for teachers with a proper elementary education certification and TESOL qualified? I'm wondering if I advertised for such, how picky I can reasonably be.

Here are a few ads from the April ohayosensei.com newsletter so you can compare. Since advertising is not permitted here, I have omitted the schools' names and contact info.

ENGLISH TEACHER AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
Full-time. 250,000yen/month. Native English speaker, BA/BS, basic
Japanese and driver's license required. MA and TESL/ESL or teaching
certification preferred. Applicant NOT REQUIRED to reside in Japan.
Sponsorship available.

KINDERGARTEN TEACHER.
Full-time, 9:00-15:30, 30 hours/week. 270,000yen/month. Teach English
to kindergarten children. BA and two years experience teaching small
children required. APPLICANT MUST CURRENTLY RESIDE IN JAPAN. Will
renew visa. Paid holidays. Position begins April, 2003. One-year
renewable contract. Apply with CV/resume.

NATIVE ENGLISH TEACHERS FOR CHILDREN WITH HOMESTAY ARRANGEMENT.
Full-time, 20 teaching hours/week. 250,000-280,000 yen/month. Teach
mainly preschool and elementary students. "Matty's has special
events, such as Summer Camp, Speech Contest, Christmas Pageant, and
Day Camp." BA or MA (Education, English, TESL or Linguistics)
preferred. "No Japanese required." Training provided. Accommodation:
"Japanese homestay or fully furnished Japanese house shared by
teachers. A car is provided." Paid holidays, five weeks paid vacation
(summer, winter and Golden week) and completion bonus.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CERTIFIED TEACHER.
Full-time, 20-25 hours/week. 300,000yen/month. Teach various subjects
at different grades, yard duty and bus monitor. "Many of our students
are ESL students, and therefore we would like to have a teacher from
the USA, UK or Canada." University degree (B.Ed.), one year
experience teaching elementary school students and elementary school
teaching certification required. "under 35 years" preferred.
APPLICANT MUST CURRENTLY RESIDE IN JAPAN. Will sponsor or renew visa. Holidays, transportation, vacation, bonus system and optional health
insurance.

KINDERGARTEN TEACHER.
Part-time. 135,000yen/month. Take care of children, educating
children, play with children, cleaning, curriculum planning, teach
English once or twice a week and office work. Over one year
experience teaching children, university degree (specialization in
Child Care), Kindergarten teacher's certificate and basic Japanese
speaking ability required. Applicant NOT REQUIRED to reside in Japan.
Sponsorship available. Accommodation: "partially provided." Health
insurance, summer vacation (about 10 days) and winter vacation (about
7 days). "No Christmas holidays." One-year contract, renewable once.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ESL TEACHER.
Part-time, 5 mornings/week, 3 hours/day. 10,000yen/morning. Proper
visa and driver's license required. APPLICANT MUST CORRENTLY RESIDE
IN JAPAN. Accommodation: "Beautiful cheap rental house available."
One-year renewable contract.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER.
Part-time, 10-15 hours/week, 2-3 days/week. Teach multi-level
elementary school students math or science and English classes. Small
class size. "This is a church school and the applicant must be a
committed Christian and have an active church life." Proper visa, BS
and beginning Japanese speaking ability required. APPLICANT MUST
CURRENTLY RESIDE IN JAPAN. Travel allowance. One-year renewable
contract.
