				| hi, I am thinking of doing a TESS-EFL course in Mexico City - http://www.innovative-english.com/tess-efl.htm - and wanted some impartial advice on whether it's a good idea. The course offered is 70 hrs whereas most TEFL courses seem to be 120 hrs. This makes me think that maybe a TESS-EFL is not as valid as a TEFL or TESOL course. I am not looking into a long term career teaching english, i just want to spend a few months living somewhere in Latin America and be able to support myself whilst doing it, do you think a TESS-EFL course will be enough? thanks. | |

				| Dont know about S America but if you are only going to do "a few months" it doesnt seem a good idea doign it. Unless of course all employers say you must have one.
What are your other educational achievements?

				| I've got a bachelor's degree (English Lit & Spanish). Do you think it's not a good idea because i might get decent work without any teaching qualification? I was thinking that the more qualifications the more i would get paid, but maybe it doesn't neccesarily work like this? thanks, ben. | |

In many locations it's not so much about the amount a person earns, but that better schools can be somewhat picky about who they hire, because they get enough applicants who have TEFL training and/or experience. More important, in my opinion -- unless you find a school that provides its own teacher training -- would you be prepared to do your job adequately without having any TEFL training or experience?
