Awhile back I applied for a job and they wanted me to send my university degree-the original. In the end I decided not to take this job but I'm wondering is this is a new thing. I had 2 jobs in Japan before and a copy was fine. Was it just this school or have others had to send the original? I really don't like this idea. |

I have, just recently, been going through the setup process after being hired by a fairly large school. I was required to submit my original diploma overseas. It was returned intact, no damage at all.
Japan is getting more and more strict on visas. |

Yeah. I used to send only copies of my diploma back in the mid 90s.
A couple of years ago, I had to send the original. They sent it back undamaged, no problem.
If you're really worried about losing the original, you can order an extra one from your university. Mine cost $16 USD and it took about a couple of months. |
