Hi everyone!

I'm a first-year JET right now who has decided not to re-contract. I like teaching well enough (when they actually let me TEACH - I'm sure anyone who's done JET knows what I mean), but living out in the inaka without so much as a train (and no driver's license) just isn't for me. I'd like to move out closer to the Osaka area (where all my friends are, and I just love Osaka in general) and look for a new job.

The thing is - most jobs here begin in April, right? People are telling me things like "oh, you'll have to go back home for a while and look," but these are the same people who try to talk me out of EVERYTHING here, so I'm choosing to pointedly ignore them. Razz I don't want to break my JET contract - it's not THAT bad here, and how would that look to my next employer if I couldn't even stick it out for a year? - so I can't start a new job until the beginning of August or so when my contract ends. How hard is it going to be to find something? From what I hear of the high turnovers at the big eikaiwas I'm guessing I could find something, but is that all there is? I really don't want to leave the country and come back if I don't have to - it just seems like a waste of time, and it seems to me I'd have a better chance of finding something while BEING here, rather than being abroad.

If it helps, I have 2 bachelor's degrees (Japanese Language and Asian Studies - yeah I know), I haven't taken the JLPT yet but I have around 2kyu, and my visa is good for another 2 years. Thanks for any advice/hope you can give me. Smile

PM me and I will give you the name of a company that might suit what you're looking for.
