(From today's SCMP)

The crisis surrounding Sea Rich College in Dalian and the Northeast Normal University has escalated.
The American teacher who tipped of the Scottish partners in the international English programme done at Sea RIch College was recently attacked and beaten by 14 thugs in the pay of, it is supposed, the principal of NNU.

Some of you may remember a post here in December last year on this issue. It is unfortunate that foreign schools can only enter China in partnerships with local service providers, almost none deserves a helping hand from western tertiary institutions.

Tofuman, eat some solid food and grow up! "Thugs" ordinarily means rough men, grown males with violent tendencies.

I often enjoyed being in a good fight when I was young. I fought three guys in a row once, but all at once would have been a bit much. One real "thug" could beat most of the guys on this board into a coma. Fourteen at one time, if they were real "thugs," there would have been hardly a body left.

The term "thug" comes from a shortened version of the word, "thugee;" The thugees were followers of some warped Hindu killer-goddess named Kali and spent a lot of their time sneaking up on and then killing people. Nice guys!

Roger these so called partnership schools are interesting to me . I was just burned by one . Small money 800 rb . But it was the classic don't pay the final salary . It was expected because I saw a warning on Dave's . The school is in partnership with a Korean . Tell me what can you do
The Koreans work on the complaint system . They solicit complaints from the students and then reproach the teacher because he is not following the students learning agenda . So they dump the teacher on the 11 month of the contract . Tempers flair and the teacher looks badly because they display their temper to the local authorities . So if you check the Korean job board you see the same post being offered that were there last year
So the way I see it you defend the schools too much . I think one of the thinks that I see here is that teachers are looked on as cheap commodities that can be replaced easily. This satisfies the Chinese teachers learned dislike of foreigners . Every year they get to deficate on a new foreigner .
I have been in and out of a lot of schools lately trying to find a new job and all I see is sad foreign faces who are not happy campers .
Please explain to me what blow the whistle means ?

Brian Caulsfield,
I DON'T defend schools per se, nor "too much". I stand upagainst slanderers, liars, rumourmongers and truants. If a fellow-teacher gets short-shrifted I am among the most vocal in denouncing the act.

I didn't choose the word "thugs" - I took it from the relevant SCMP article.
By the way, I reported the ongoing crisis at that school a month earlier - lease, look up the thread.

In answer to the Red Baron, the tipping off concerned a dispute over money that the principal, one Mr Wang, stands accused of having pocketed. The money was the tuition fees of many students who had enrolled for classes that were supposed to prepare them for university studies in SCOTLAND. The Northeast Normal University entrusted the teaching of these students to the Sea RIch COllege, which has a British DOS. Finally, the Sea Rich College complained about outstanding dues. Students were also promised, by Mr Wang, admission to a Scottish university no matter how they performed at Sea RIch College; obviously the Chinese side, i.e. NNU, collected money that they didn't distribute properly, and they made false claims. The American teacher that was beaten up tried to inform the Scottish side of the mess.
Yes, I do agree - too many overseas schools are jumping on the English/education bandwagon in partnership with CHinese. Unfortunately, education is for some time going to be the turf of the government here - as it is in other countries as well.

Hola!

I read that the 14 thugs stuck the whistle up the man's anal cavity, and doctors cannot remove it without killing the patient.

Another bad thing is when the American farts, it blows the whistle and thus is chased, hunted and whooped by the same 14 thugs.

Beware 14 thugs, 3 Chinese and Ali Baba and the 39 thieves!

Senor

As US foreign policy analysts are wont to say:

"He may be a *beep* but he's OUR *beep*."

Go back to the Mexico forum and stop bothering decent people!

CCM . . . Dang, you're flippin crazy. I really have no idea what to expect when you post (aside from it's always at least 3 paragraphs). It's either some intricate madness, or something that is only related to the post by a spider-thread. I don't always like it, but it's usually worth a skim. Just one question - Do you write all your posts, or are they purged? (j/k)

Keep on writin', keep up the Magic.
