This forum is great, so much info, thanks to all of you.
I have a question about the visa process in Hong Kong. To show proof that I have sufficient funds in my back account to support myself for the length of my stay, what sort of paper do I need to show the office in HK. I know that I need a bank statement, but as Im not in Canada, how does one get a bank statement outside of ones country. If I use my bankcard in an ATM machine in HK will the bank machine give me a balance statement. I dont have much experience with this sort of thing, especially since Ive been living on the mainland (China) and havent used a bank machine in a few years. I would just like to know specifically what I need for the Taiwan Visa office and how I can get it in HK.
I really appreciate any help. |

Call your bank. Set up internet banking. Print out a statement. I'm from New Zealand and I've been able to do that with one of my banks. I imagine it would be easier would a North American bank. |

If your bank does not have a branch in Hong Kong try opening an account with a local bank then transfer the money into a local account.
If that is not possible call your bank in Canada and ask them to mail you a banking statement or as suggested by M.M. just open your account to Internet access.
All else fails use your ATM statement. Make three copies of it and enlarge them. They love paperwork in that office.
The way you dress and act also plays an important part. Do not tell them you are going to be a teacher.
Good luck,
A. |
