Any advice on a good place to buy a nice suit (for teaching) for a good bargin in Bangkok? I won't be living there but will pass thru a few times probably. I plan to get my Celta in Thailand then fly to Japan. I thought it would be better to buy my suits in Thailand rather than in the US or Japan. I have been several times in the past but wasn't looking for a suit then. don't want to go to KSR for it. |

Rajawonse (and the nearby family-run Rajas) is near the Landmark Hotel and has made suits for both Bushes. 250USD for a tailor made suit using permium fabric. Or, get it made in local fabric for about half that, then take the suit to a cheaper tailor and have as many copies run off as you like for less.
Many tailors will be adequate, but in many ways you get what you pay for. Three pants two shirt two jackets two ties and a safari hat for 50USD isn't going to get you anything but a rash.
Certainly better to get your suits here than in Japan or the US. No reason to bother with deparment stores here -- go for a tailored piece.
If you haven't bought a suit before you'll probably want a single-breasted, three button 100% summer weight wool job. And another in non-summer weight wool. Four button is popular in Thailand at the moment and looks a bit militaristic. Two button or double breasted is only for slobs who like gravy stains.
In any case, best to bring in a picture of what you want. |
