|
|
Hi,
What is the equivalent of a PGDE? Reviewing the NET scheme,
"(ii) A Post-graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) majoring in English or equivalent; and"
would it be the same as a State teaching license/certificate?
I have the qualifications with the exception of the PGDE requirement, but I may have the "equivalent" if I can get an understanding of what it is.
In addition, in which program is there a greater chance of being accepted: secondary or primary?
Thanks. |

What qualifications do you have?
A PGDE is a postgraduate diploma in Education - it gives a graduate with a bachelor's degree (BA, BSc) a teaching licence or teaching certification.
If someone graduated with a Bachelor's in Education (B.Ed) then they wouldn't need a PGDE. |

|

Hello,
Well....well....well...
Now that almost gives rise to a whole other debate?!? Not a single American NET in 2 years?? Wow.
I would be interested in hearing any other confirmations of this observation. Has any NET out there, current or past, met an American NET?
Why do you think that there are soooo few American NETS?
I can tell you that based on my experience in teaching in a number of different countries in Asia.. Americans are always at the bottom of the list of teachers in the country. Simply put, Americans are not so fond of living abroad for extended terms. However, this is a whole subject in itself.
Do you think that EMB is biased against Americans. Or the number of qualified applicants just isn't there?
Thanks! |

Simply put, the EMB doesn't recruit in America. The closest place they recruit is Canada. In fact, Americans would need to fly to Canada to interview. |

Hello,
I take it you mean that if an American were to make their application via America correct?
If, for example, they were applying from Japan... they could very well fly to HK for the interview?
Speaking of which, any insights on the actual interview? Is it a day long (stay in HK for 1 day) or is it some indepth process requiring several days? Any tips on the interview?
Thanks. |
