I think it is north west. I'm moving to Osaka soon which is why I questioned the area.

Thanks for your replies.

Nishi Yodogawa-ku is the last ward in the northwest part of Osaka before you enter Amagasaki-city in Hyogo prefecture.

Metaphorically, if you think of the area Nishinomiya-city /Amagasaki-city and Osaka as the area between the inside of your bicep, armpit, and chest, Nishi Yodogawa-ku would be the armpit (right at the bend of Osaka Bay).

Nishi Yodogawa-ku extends from Osaka Bay in the west to Yodogawa-ku in the east. It's famous for being an industrial bayfront area.

The closer you are to the bay / waterfront (western part) the uglier it gets. The industrial/chemical plants and factories are really an eyesore and a half.

The rest of the the ward to the east is filled up with the typical apartment blocks and houses that you see pretty much everywhere. The farther away from the bayfront the nicer it seems to become.

Two train lines run through Nishi Yodogawa-ku on their way to Kobe. Both the JR and Hanshin Lines have stations there. You're just across the river from Umeda/Osaka so it's pretty convenient; just a couple of stations away.

Nice view of the Umeda skyline from across the Yodogawa River.

Congratulations on moving to Osaka. Good luck.

Thanks for the detailed response. From what I've heard, Osaka sounds like a fun place to live!
