American vs. British spelling

In order for a student to become bilingual, he or she must become bicultural as well. The two are inseparable in second language acquisition. Language, in all its aspects, is the most pronounced reflection of a culture. John

How is saying the word for "table" different culturally in all languages? You state that "language in all its aspects, is the most pronounced reflection of culture".

So just what are the cultural differences between tables?

First of all, why do so many ESL teachers argue over such minutia(e)?

I will stand by my statement concerning language and culture. A "table" culturally has more significance in certain cultures such as in the Mediterranean than it does in the United States. This can be proven through expressions in these nations concerning the "table."

There ya go.... and let's leave it at that. I won't waste my time with another response in this matter.
