I've searched the forum and I can't find any information on this.
Does anyone know the cheapest way to send items ie. boardgames, extra clothes, etc from Toronto to Osaka?
I was thinking about doing the sea mail thing but that seems to work if you are sending stuff out of Japan. |

Go to the Canada Post post office and ask them what the cheapest way is. Parcel post will be the cheapest, and the price varies depending on size and weight. |

Look into a private shipping company on your area. We figured it was about 50% less than Canada Post which is really overpriced. |

I looked into Yamato because I remember seeing them deliver stuff to my work but it only works for companies.
Can anyone recommend any private ones? |

Try: Nippon Express. We used them from Canada to Japan. |

You can use FED EX but I'm pretty sure it's expensive... You could try UPS but that might be expensive too.
Sea mail is cheapest for Canadian Post but takes at least 1 month...sometimes 2...sometimes 3 [I finally received my Christmas present from my mom 3months after she sent it, has only happened once though]
But look into the private companies that were mentioned they might have a cheaper price. |

Hi there!
Before I left Montreal, I sent myself a box to Kochi City via Canada post Surface mail. I mailed it on January 7th, 2005...it arrived in Kochi on February 17th, 2005. It can take anywhere from 6-8 weeks. Even longer depending on where you are.
You can visit www.canadapost.ca and input size, weight, and destination and it will give you a price. You can also do the same for Fedex. Canadapost is very strict on the total dimensions of you package and weight limits so please check for your destination first. The only disadvantage of mailing with canadapost is that you cannot track your package regularly online as you can with Fedex. Fedex will tell you where it is at all times.
Surface mail was the cheapest but I still found it pricy, for 20kg, I paid 116$CAD. Delivery time 6 weeks.
Another alternative if it is not too heavy is air mail with Canada post. It will take about 1 week.
Good luck!
