Hi there!
I am German but really would like to teach English in Asia or South America. I am studying English and have previous experience living in English speaking countries so I would consider myself to be fluent. What would be my chances to get a teaching job?

Basically, someone like you is a step or two ahead of the monolingual English speaker. Sometimes, monolingual speakers are the yeast in the dough that makes it rise.
BUt here in Asia they really only care for the white face. The hirers, however, may have strong biases in favour of anglophone nationals.
It's daft but this is the reality. You may be accepted so long as you can credibly pass yourself off as a native English speaker. Theatralics most likely will do the trick, proficiency comes a distant second.
The problem really is you are not going to be employed as a teacher but as a conversation talkmaster or an emcee. The stupid idea here is that locals cannot force themselves to speak their L 2; it takes a white face to prompt them into doing this.
THis kind of work can be frustrating; however,, as a bilinugal person you will easily detect their various performance weaknesses, and perhaps you can help them tackle them.

Good luck!

Having a degree and/or a certificate of some kind will greatly increase your chances of getting English teaching work. What qualifications do you have?

It is possible for non-native speakers to get English teaching work in Asia, especially in countries that have a harder time attracting/retaining teachers such as Thailand, China and Vietnam. Also, there may be some opportunities to tutor Deutsch.

Again the main thing is that you have some sort of credentials/experience.
