Hi everyone,
I am currently working with my best student to help her prepare to take the TOEFL. Her English is quite fluent and based on her practice tests I think she will do very well. She would like to go to a University in the US (or maybe Canada) but was discouraged when she looked at the prices. I was wondering if anyone knew about scholarships or fellowships that are offered specifically to foreign students, or for which foreign students would be eligible? My internet time is limited so I would appreciate any ideas on where to begin looking.
I don't know specifically what her grades are in school, beyond that she does well. She is interested in studying education or psychology but has not made a definite decision.
Thanks for your help!

it depends! Is she looking to go there for an undergrad or a graduate degree?

If it is an undergraduate degree, there is close to ZERO chances of getting some sort of scholarship from the U.S.
getting a scholarship or an assistantship while studying for a master's or a Ph.D is a little easier usually but it has gotten substancially harder because of all the slashing that education budget has gone through.

Some countries have individual agreements with carious U.S. states so that their citizens can go there and pay in-state tuition which is a heck of a lot cheaper than out of state fees that international students have to pay.

Look at this fantastic web site for foreign students wishing to enroll in colleges outside of their home countries.
