okay- I need some more help!
I am in the U.S. right now and i am planning on moving to Spain in August/September 2005. For a long time, I have been set on going to the Canterbury language school, but I haven't received any response back from my two e-mails that I sent and I just read a horrible review of the school on this forum.
So I would like to know if anyone has attended either the Britsh Language Centre or the Hyland Lanaguage Centre. Both are more expensive , but they both offer the CELTA certificate. And the Britsh centre gave me an immediate response to my questions.
So if anyone has any opinions about either of these schools, please let me know! |

BLC has a lot of experience and a couple of names - it offers the DELTA too. I went there to do the course a long time ago. A friend of mine did her CELTA there more recently and was happy about it.
As a place to work for, they have enough hours on offer but conditions are no better than anywhere else. |

Hey Nikkij,
You referred to a "horrible review" of Canterbury in your post and I was wondering which post you were referring to. I did a quick search and didn't find anything I would consider horrible. I ask because I myself went to Canterbury a few years back and can't imagine someone finding them horrible.
Granted it has its positives and negatives, I've written about them in the past so feel free to check my previous posts if you like, but I would definitely say the pros far outweigh the cons.
Regarding the email problem, that has come up a few times on here. I'm not sure what the deal is but some people post about their "quick and professional" responses while others don't receive a single word. Id be willing to bet its something technical. Double check you are sending it to the right email address too. They had around 3 that they contacted me with when I was interested so there was a bit of confusion on which one to reply to etc.
Also, and this goes for everything else regarding Spain. Don't expect things to run like the clean and efficient machine that is The United States work force. Things are different, people take their time, take siestas (sadly a dying art) and take off early from work etc. (I'm not accusing Canterbury of any of this!!! ) but you will see what I mean when you get here. A little bit of patience is needed when dealing with Spanish businesses and Spanish people (heck even westerners get infected by it, it's a Friday afternoon and in anywhere USA I should still be at work, no wonder Ive been here so long!!! ).
If you'd like to know anything else feel free to PM me.
