Hi
I am very intereted in teaching in either Vietnam or Thailand as i am due to complete my CELTA course in the near future. However i do not have a degree. I was at university but i have recently stopped the course that i was on as no longer feel that it is the course for me.
I just wanted to know if it would be possible for me to teach in either Vietnam or Thailand without a degree certificate?
And if so what is the best time of year for me to apply for work?
What type of salary can i expect to earn.
What is the quality of life like for foreign teachers there?
Any advice that you can give me would be gratly appreciated...
Thanks

Hey Clueless
I have been teaching in Vietnam for about 6 months now and you could definitely find a job although you don't have a degree. The lifestyle is pretty good due to the low cost of living. I can't speak about Thailand as I have never been but Vietnam is pretty good. Yes, there are low points like traffic and noise I would suggest looking for work after Tet - (during February) as work slows down significantly.
With a CELTA - expect to earn $17 or $18 / hour.
Good Luck!! |

The wage you mentioned seems to be for corporate which includes a middle-man (school).
No degree + CELTA + no experience, might be in a lower range. |
