Hmm...
Interesting, I'd not heard of Elite ESL before.
But it seems they and Buckland are the same.
Anyway, it has been discussed quite a few times before which Buckland is which... This one is the recruiter, Owen, who has a couple of brothers who also have schools in Yangshuo. I've worked for one of Owen's brothers in Yangshuo and had a good time, gained lots of useful experience there.
Owen is a nice guy as well, though I've never worked for him.
There is another school in Yangshuo, named Buckland as well, but is not connected to the 'Group'.
Actually, just send them an email to explain what and who exactly they are, and do a 'search' on here to find more information on them.
Good luck,

The name you give us today is new to me.
Buckland, on the other hand, has existed for over ten years. It is owned by one Ao Wen, who transliterated his name into English 'Owen". And yes, this is true, Owen is a dependable and rather xenophile man. His brother runs the Omad or something school in Yangshuo; very professional, very outgoing. But they are two separate entities rouyghly like this: Owen is in charge of recruiting on behalf of public schools in the whole of China, and Omad runs a local training centre. They do cooperate, of course.
Then there is a third offshoot that is owned by a newcomer to Yangshuo who bought Owen's first outfit some 5 years ago. He retains the old name and the same location in Xijie, almost opposite of the Paradise Hotel and next to a couple of banks. That school is run in a rather amateurish fashion. Unfortunately, the owner also bought the name 'Buckland", because obviously it is a very good selling point. Why Owen has been able to set up a new organisation under the old name is a mystery to me, but I do recommend it.
If you want to you can visit his website and get in touch with some of the current FTs under Owen's thumb. |

Roger,
Thanks for the info, that does kind of clear things up a bit, i am just a bit confused as to why Buckland would also operate under ESL Elite and does that mean there is something dodgy going on?????
If you want to check out their web : www.elite-esl-teaching-in-china.com.
Then maybe let me konw what you think, would be great.
Thanks |

laurtac,
I have visited their website and got away as puzzled as you are though not sceptical at all. It clearly says it is another "function of the Buckland International Organisation", whatever that means. I take it this is Buckland's new recruting arm, perhaps an attempt at avoiding confusion with the erstwhile buckland in Xijie.
Let me be frank with you and admit to being a little partial: I met Owen many years ago, and recently I met his brother by pure coincidence. He treated me royally just on account of having heard of me from his brother.
But I base my opinion on various other posters' feedback on this board, and some personal PMs i have received over the years. Any run-in someone might have had in the past was more than compensated for by at least ten positive experiences by others. |

roger,
Thanks for your input, i agree that maybe they came up with this new name to avoid confusion with the other Buckland (Xijie).
I just wanted someone else to take a look.
Being a newbi i think Owen has the right sort of set up ( from what i can see) that i am looking for.
Cheers |
