I'm in the process of comparing specific TESOL and Celta programs in Vietnam. I'd greatly appreciate any input on TEFL International's HCMC program, and on TEFL International as a whole. Their website says that they are validated and moderated by the IATQUO, but it seems that this organization monitors only TEFL International schools. Thanks again.

I was very dubious about them when I first heard of them a couple of years ago.
I have met a number of their graduates from Phuket and HCM City and they all seem reasonably happy with the course and, without interrogation, they don't seem any less clued up than newly qualified CELTA graduates.
I have also seen some of their curriculum and spoken to a tutor and I am a lot less dubious now than I first was.
IMHO it shouldn't be discounted. |

I was dubious about the program because:
I have seen many schools offering unaccredited courses and some of them appear to be of very little value. I believe it was unaccredited when I first looked at the site. Even now their accreditation looks a bit "dubious" as I think they are in effect accrediting themselves.
Their website back then didn't give one the feel of confidence. I believe when I first looked at the site they only had two or three locations.
Possibly the phrase "... I am a lot less dubious now than I first was." Could be changed for "I would have no qualms with suggesting/recommending them." In fact I have suggested them to at least a couple of people.
Still would prefer it if another body accredited them, however. I suppose as they are quite big now and possibly competing against other accreditation bodies it may be difficult to get someone else to accredit them. |

Spycatcher,
Good points mate. I think it was a matter of semantics.
I won't comment on IATQ, but getting "accreditation" has become a political and business issue.
Thanks for the response. |
