Thats it. I've had enough of this sars stay-where-you-are rubbish. I've just realised how small my "industrial village" is (Yan Tian).
A guy I know is running a very informal "Salon" at
The Grammy Bar, Hua Lian Hotel Shenzhen,
from about 2 o'clock on Sunday (18/05).
Native speakers, advanced and upper intermediate welcome.
The bar has a massive patio overlooking Shenzhen, with an outdoor pool.
Tightfisted and poor people can avoid spending any money at all by drinking the free tea you get (you know the stuff). For beer drinkers, Kingway 330's 10 bucks a pop - for some reason Tsingtao's much more expensive, about 50 I think). You can get fed there too, although I don't know what the prices are like for food.
I'm going to take a few of my best students along (my lot happen to be adults - kids would be a no-no).
So come and see if you can still talk at normal speed, use articles, etc. Get brownie points with you employer for bringing some students along for a while.
PM me with q's (address etc), post, or just turn up if you know where it is. |

I've forgotten where Hua Lian Hotel is. Is it that building with the big clock in FuTien? Is it the same as Hua Lian Da Sha? |

Kurochan - the big clock it is. The one which does a bad impression of London's Big Ben every hour.
Noodles - see above. I'm not a Shenzhen local, but I reckon it must be a very well-known building.
The pinyin address (unpunctuated - sorry):
Shen Lan Zhong Lu Hu Lan Da Sa. (Zhong Lou = big clock)
The bar's on the third floor, the pool's up another flight outside. |
