Macedonia (FYROM) and the other Balkan countries are now officially represented in this Jobs Forum. I had written Dave, requesting such a forum, and Dave wrote me back right away, telling me it was a done deal.

Here is the direct link, but of course it is featured in the European grouping of countries in the Forum Index.

I invite you to drop by and visit. If you have experience or know of someone's experience in Macedonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Bosnia, Serbia-Montenegro, Albania and/or Croatia, please drop by and tell us about it in the new forum. If you have questions, please feel free to ask them. In fact, everyone start your own threads!!

I will be continuing to search for and post all seemingly relevant and pertinent links and information that could help someone eventually connect with a TESL job in Macedonia.

As a soon-training ESL teacher (and novice overseas), I am learning so very much from all of you on this forum. I am so lucky that I have started planning this a year in advance. Of course, I may end up in Korea for several years, saving up some money, but Macedonia will be a definite destination at some point in time.

Thank you all for your help and assistance, both to me and to the new forum.

TOPIC: Links & Contract Addresses for Potential Jobs in the Balkans

Wanted folks to know that I had already accumulated quite a few helpful links for the Balkans in general and contact addresses specific for Macedonia.

I have also read what scot and others have had to say about the relatively difficulty in securing job in these countries unless one is there, ready and willing to knock on a lot of doors.

It is relatively easier to find a volunteer job in these countries as "a toe in the door" approach, and I have helpful links for these, too.

My boyfriend is from Skopje, and we hope to be going over there this summer.
It sounds like a beautiful country, and the Macedonians I have met have always impressed me as warm, creative individuals.

I'm desperate to find some work, preferably as an EFL teacher although not necessarily, and am finding it very hard to do so.
I had thought they would gladly recruit teachers of English, especially Skopje, but so far I haven't had any luck.
Am I looking in the wrong place, or going about it in the wrong way?

Any ideas much appreciated.
