don`t know where else to look! trying to find a teaching position in Yunnan Province but so far no joy. does anyone out there have any suggestions on how to approach this. I`ve been looking on the net but there doesn`t seem to be many postings for this area. I am going to China in April as a tourist and will look for work then if i haven`t found any already Ideally, I want to get a job before I go there. Do teaching jobs in Yunnan province really exist or am i just dreaming! |

I did read recently that jobs were very difficult to find in Yunan. But you already knew that.
Try doing a search here on Yunan here to see other comments. |

Here's another link for jobs in Yunan Province. It's a recruiter, so be careful!
Good luck! |

| Only Kunming and Jinghong have vacancies, hence the crowdedness. Besides, they are not too legalistic and will not hesitate to screw you over. The ad above is curious in that it doesn't offer a one-way ticket refund or airfare - this is, however, legal requirement. |

That salary is typical for university positions here in Kunming, I'm afraid. Some private schools pay more. Several of the universities here were looking for teachers for this semester, but the semester has started already, so most vacancies here should be filled. Jobs do not usually need to be advertised here, and most vacancies are filled through reference and word of mouth. Lots of people want to teach in Kunming, so schools usually don't have problems finding people.
I know a school in Lincang which is looking for a teacher (primary and middle school I think). Lincang is in the lower Nujiang valley, not too far from Tengchong. Really beautiful area, but almost guaranteed you'd be the only foreign face around. The pay is at least 3000 a month (this would go a long ways in Lincang), apartment provided, and some kind of airfare compensation. If you're interested you can PM me. |
