Hello all,
I am living in Australia at the moment, and I believe i have made one of the worst mistakes in my life, my girlfriend for the past 3 years has left australia, and is teaching english in Japan with NOVA, my regret is that i did not sign on with NOVA when i had the chance, and leave australia with her on what i believe would have been a fantastic adventure together.
Now if I want to be with my love I must go about the hard way, looking for smaller companies to support me when I choose to go over there.
What I ask from this forum of experiened travellers is some help and advice on where i should start looking.
I do not have a Degree
I am 22 years old, and my highest level of education, will be a Diploma of Network Engineering that i am currently finishing at the moment.
I realise it will be a struggle and virtually impossible for me to find a job over there, but the pain I feel with her absence is what is motivating me to search in ernest, for a position in japan.
She is currently residing in Osaka and i would like, if possible , to find suitable work for myself around that area.
I am looking to Travel there in June, just for two weeks to have a look around, but i would much prefer to leave Australia prepared for interviews and possibly line up a few before I leave.
some say I should just accept that it is an impossible dream, and I should just accept my loss and move on.
but I am asking the community here for help and guidance.
thankyou.

You are in luck. You qualify for a working holiday visa. You are under 30 and you are from one of the countries that participates in the working holiday program. You will have to scrape together the cash to come over and support yourself until you find work, but other than that it should be okay. |

I agree with Celeste in that the WHV is your easiest (and probably only practical) route to getting here.
You are also right in thinking that you should line things up with potential interviews before you come. Since it takes only a couple of weeks to get the WHV, plan around that time frame.
www.ohayosensei.com comes out on the 1st and 16th of every month.
www.eltnews.com , www.gaijinpot.com , and www.eslcafe.com update their job boards every day, 7 days a week, while www.jobsinjapan.com updates its board Mon through Fri.
Look at Kansai Flea Market and Kansai Time Out web sites, too. They are updated weekly.
If you can get a Monday edition of The Japan Times, look in there, too. |

Thankyou so much for such quick and informed responses.
I do greatly appreciate them, more then can be expressed in a forum.
I will do further research with the information given, if there is any more information I need to know, please post it.
Cheers,
Chris |
