Hello all.

I am going to Spain in January (just a month and a half away!!) and am trying to decide betweeen two different TEFL certification programs located in Sevilla.

Has anyone here taught or been certified in Sevilla? I have no idea what the job market will be like, but I decided on Sevilla over Madrid because it's such a beautiful city. From my internet research it appears the job climate for Americans is better in Madrid, but I lived there for 5 months a few years ago would like to go somewhere else. Madrid is great, don't get me wrong, I just wanted to try Andaluca on for size.

Thoughts? Comments? Advice?

If you haven't already I suggest you check out CLIC. They offer a CELTA program and come highly recommended by some of my friends. Here's the URL:

Belated thanks, sebailey, I'm heading over to Sevilla on Saturday, enrolled in CLIC's January Celta program.

Is anyone else out there teaching in Andaluca?

Anyone have any last minute advice?

European Language Centres offers a Trinity CertTESOL course in Sevilla. The tuition is $1500 and housing is arranged in private flats or with host families. You can find out more information about the course on their website www.eurotefl.com or feel free to send questions to [email protected]

Even though this is probably a moot point at this date in time, I tool CLIC's course and found it wonderful. Great facilities, fantastic tutors, and possibly worth worth every cent or centimo.

However, I can't recommend to anybody that they should come to Sevilla looking for work--and I'm not just saying that because I want to keep people out. At this time in the year in Sevilla, there are too many teachers and too few jobs, with CLIC alone spitting out 20 more each month. If I had to do it all over again, I would have come over here just for the course and then gone back home to plot the best, most logical next step like some of my coursemates did. As it is, I got the usual "Yeah, we'll call you..." routine and am barely getting by with privates. (I'm American too, which is a whole other story.)

The moral: If you want to come to Sevilla and stay, come in September when the schools are hiring. Nothing but good things to say about CLIC, though.
