I am currently finishing my CELTA in Seville and although I desperately want to stay in Spain and work, I am an Australian national.
At the moment I am thinking about working in Ireland. One of my fellow students here told me that Ireland has (or is having) a wave of immigration from other parts of Europe. I have been able to find a list of schools from google and I was wondering if it is possible, from other people�s experience to find regular work and what are the pay and conditions like? |

hey moz,
i see you posted this in february so i'm not too sure how useful it is to reply now but here goes...
the market in ireland is very good at the moment, as in there are a lot of schools operating and hiring, but it can be frustrating. for example, if you want to work in efl here, you're more than likely going to be working evenings, at least until you're in a school for some time. and although the money is ok (about €18 an hour) you may have to work in a couple of schools to make a liveable wage.
if you still haven't found work, try the aecls website (www.aecle.ie) as they have a list of approved schools. unapproved schools are easier to get into as an inexperienced teacher, mail me if you want a couple of leads there but obviously they pay a little less and are less respected.
a lot of schools are currently hiring for short term summer work, usually mornings about 20 hours a week. i did this last year, it's a good way to supplement evening work!
