No, I'm not likening Shanghai to Hawaii !!! (Hawaii 5-0), but there is an opportunity to teach in Shanghai for 5500 RMB per month (accommodation is included free).
Would this amount be sufficient to live on a monthly basis in such a happening place? I hear that it is the most expensive city in China, but if accommodation is taken care of, should it be easier to survive? (I should probably stress that word 'survive'!!).
I'm not the sort to pop down to the local KFC and I have yet to drink Coca Cola this year. I would be buying local produce from the markets and try to live as much as a "local" as possible (whatever that means nowadays).
Any feedback, comments, would be greatly, and I mean greatly appreciated.
Bests,

Hello goman72 ,
With a life-style like that, sport, plus and a free dog-box to live in, you will romp it in, no worries!
Actually, if you mean what you say, you could live on much less than half of what you get.
Basic fresh food is not significantly more expensive in Shanghai than other places and there are plenty of half reasonable eating places where you tucker will be less than 20 -25 RMB.
You may get rather sick of this lifestyle after a while of course and that is the thing with the more developed cities: all the choices are there waiting to burn a hole in your pocket.
So, if you are not bent on saving anything, you could have quite a pleasant and comfortable time.
Cheers
