I'm thinking of asking employers to pay me $300 for interview expenses.

I'm sick of time-wasting black-hole HK potential employers who tell you that if you want any chance of getting the job, then, you have to go to their offices for an interview, (would they come out to your place incurring travel costs and time expenses?).

Then, they tell you you have to go back another day for a teaching demonstration (observation/delivery/lesson plan test/group interview)!

Afterwards, they don't even bother to tell you that there isn't really a job, they were just planning for 6 months down the line.

When you ask them for a reply as to whether you were successful, they tell you that they'll keep your record on file!!

What do you think the responses from employers would be if applicants expected an interview payment of $300?

They wouldn't do it because most are cheap.

I think it's a great idea; I've had a few of those in the past myself. We just need to get organized into an interviewing union. I'll interview all prospective members in my 38th floor walkup office at 5:17 am this Sunday on the Redhill Peninsula. Look for the poorly dressed habitually late middle aged balding man with a history of failed business ventures with no experience in education running an �educational service� located between a plastic lid exporter and a stolen mobile phone purchasing agent.

I always piss off potential emplyers, why?

Well get all the details first.
If they say you will have to coem to the interview for the details, kindley explain, you can't go to an interview until you have the job detials.

Course dates, class sizes, materials, learnign aims, any test or examinaitions, hours, contract details etc.

If thsy say, sorry you have to coem fo rth edetails, chances are they have 1 hour every other week in the middle of the NT and just want to add you to thier portfolio of teachers in case they get an enquiry.

Being paid for an interview? I understand it's only for expenses but do you really think it's a good idea to ask for money?

I think you'd do yourself no favours with a request like that. You'd just be causing them hassle before they'd even met you and probably just piss them off and piss away your chances of a job. Are you based outside of HK?

Are you based in a humor-free zone? The original poster was simply expressing frustration at being asked to interviews in far off places that take a lot of time and money to get to only to have the prospective employer not actually be reputable or have many hours offer.
