Hi everyone, Just wondering if the NET in HK is similar to the JET in Japan? And are there other recruiters are there, where interviews are held in your home country (Aus, US etc)? |

You should find most of your questions answered here:
http://www.emb.gov.hk/index.aspx?langno=1&nodeID=262
The cut-off date for application was January 31st, but there's no harm in contacting them to see if they'll accept late apps. |

So its sort of like JET in that it is a govt. iniative to have a foreigner in each school. The difference is that instead of teachers being under 35, here in HK most are over 55. Mostly this is because they are qualified teachers which isn't a requirement of the JET program and we are paid a lot more since the payscale is based on your experience. There are a few young teachers here, but most find it a lot less fun than the JET program. |

Thank you both for replying to my message. I reckon it's too late for me to apply now, but I was thinking of next year.
So they ask applicants to have 3 criterion, but what happens if I only have (ii) a recognized teachers degree in primary education and (iii) TESL or CELTA? |

If you have a teaching certification and a Tesl/Celta, that should be all you need to get in. Check on the webpage as this year they recruited for September and January so you might not have to wait the whole year again to start! |

The latest I heard was that they were going to have all year round applications - so it's worth your while applying. Good luck. |
