I know several of you are dead-set against Westgate, but this question isn't about that.
Westgate's job board post names these locations for the University program: Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, Tochigi, Fukushima, or Aichi.
Given that Tokyo is right out at that salary, as far as I'm concerned, which locations do you think sound good? I'm interested in an area that's not too isolated, but I also have no need for nightlife-type stuff. I had a friend who did JET in Nasu, in Tochigi, and he really hated the location. I haven't been to any of the other areas (except Tokyo).
If you've actually done Westgate University in any of these areas, that would be great to hear about too! |

I was in Sagamihara city 45 minutes from central tokyo. It might be part of Kanagawa but I dont remember. I think it was a good location. It was 30 minutes to Yokohama and not too close to Tokyo (if you want to stay away from there). I remember some of my colleagues were in MAchida city as well, that was a pretty good location. There are plenty of stores, restaurants, entertainment throughout these areas. It all depends on your interests and if you want to go out and all. Westgate is not the best deal in JApan, but it can help you put your foot through the door. Just dont be there for more than a year. I was there for 9 months in 1999 and I dont regret one bit of it. |

I would take KAnagawa over Chiba and just because it mentions tokyo it doesn't mean they will place you in the downtown area, basically it will be in cities like sagamiahra and Machida. Go for western tokyo or Kanagawa its close to Yokohama and Tokyo if you desire to go there. Good luck |
