Has anyone gone through the process of gaining greeek citizenship for a greek passport? In another post, someone stated that they brought their greek ancestors( father's) passport to the Greek Embasy. I did go the to Greek Embassy's web site and found that you need alot more than just a passport from your ancestor.
I am the daughter of a greek imigrant to the US.....I would like to obtain citizenship so I can work in Europe.
I would like any input from people that have gone through this process...do you really need your greek ancestors certified birth certificate..(this is a war torn country and my dad was born in 1929). Also, they require the marriage certificate too...I know it was a chuch somewhere in Athens....i guess I will be making lots of long distance calls
How long did the approval process take from beginning to end?
Any input on past experiences are much appreciated |

if your father was born in greece you can get it. it just takes some work.
#1 you need your parents marriage certificate, i dont know why its so important, but without it, they wont talk to you.
#2 after you have that you need your fathers greek birth certificate and greek ID card or passport. which ever one has the information of registration from the municipality. the new passports dont have that info, but from that long ago the information might be there. if not, the greek id card will have to do.
once you have those 3, possibly 4 things, you can get it. it doesnt take long, maybe a week
