|

I am trying to do some self-study in Chinese language before going to China to teach English. Do any of you have any experience with the Pimsleur Comprehensive course. How was it?
Less likely, I suppose, has anyone used any of the Foreign Service (FSI) series available through NTIS?
Others that you would recommend?
Thanks |

The Pimsleur course will teach you enough Chinese to survive out here and possibly get you through a few on the street conversations. I would recomend taking them as they can be found for free on the internet. Don't try overdoing it though, just do the one lesson a day like they recomend.
If you are serious about self study and want to more than enough to get by, I would also recomend getting yourself some textbooks. These will teach you enough characters to handle reading menu's (oh and teachers notes ). |

I found Pimsleur to be excellent, but got bored with it. I've decided to switch to reading for a while, which will also bore me soon, probably.
Declan software offers an inexpensive course covering 1000 characters, but it is reading only.
Thank God, I have a beautiful gf that speaks excellent English. |
